Artist Statement
“My work is representational with elements of impressionism. I love altering the colour, shapes, and features of natural forms to create bold, bright and stylized landscapes. I also love painting flowers, capturing the personality of a bloom through subtle blending and attention to the play between light and shadows.”
Artist Bio
After retiring from a 30-year career in education, Debbie discovered a new passion - painting. Her realistic paintings of flowers are influenced by her love of the outdoors and gardening. Inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe and Ted Harrison, Debbie’s recent work is focused on the drama and tranquility of Alberta's mountains. Her red trees are a common element in these landscapes.
Now a full-time artist working primarily in acrylic on canvas, Debbie’s work has lots of bold colour and energy. The results are dynamic and captivating.
Debbie's studio is open to visitors year-round, by chance or appointment. Commissions are welcome.
